My friends and I agreed that this was one of the more memorable meals we've ever had. Reservations are STRONGLY recommended!
The menu is fixed with limited flexibility on substitutions - so may not be best for those with restrictive diets, allergies, or overly picky eaters. It does change, but during our visit it was:
- Mushroom soup with bacon and walnuts: really flavorful and came in a huge vat so each of us was able to have multiple generous servings.
- Lamb shoulder: oh my goodness this was absolutely incredible. I *never* eat lamb in the states because of how gamey it can be, but this was hands down the BEST lamb I've ever eaten. If all lamb was cooked like this, I would eat it everyday. It also comes with some hearty veggies. Again, very generous portions.
- Bleu cheese with dates: like the lamb, I typically cannot stand bleu cheese, but this one was so enjoyable when paired with the date paste.
- Mango Panna Cotta: so smooth and refreshing, not overly sweet or heavy, and a great way to end the meal.
The wine is all displayed on the walls - you basically pick out a bottle you'd like to have with your meal and pay a small uncorking fee on top of the listed price. Organized by region.
We loved the set menu and came in prepared to eat with an open mind/to be outside our comfort zones. So glad we experienced the amazing culinary skill here! -

I love this place. The menu is always great (chef's choice, no a la carte), the staff is friendly and attentive, and the ambience is the quintessential French experience that everyone is (or should) be looking for - cozy, bustling and warm. Here's the menu from the two times I've been:
Butternut squash and bacon soup
Mushroom and bacon soup
Beef cheek stew
Braised lamb shoulder
Bleu cheese (both times)
Coffee panna cotta
Mango panna cotta
Will be coming back each time I return to Paris. -

Pure Bliss!
This was my favorite restaurant in Paris; actually, it may be my favorite restaurant and dining experience of all time. Make a reservation, show up on time, maybe get lucky (like we did) and score a seat by the picture window in front of the bistro, wander around the wine shop and chose a bottle to be served with your meal, and leave the rest up to the chef.
We enjoyed a price-fixe 4 course meal that was a steal for 38 Euro! The first course was a Mushroom Veloute, followed by Braised Lamb with herbs and vegetable. The 3rd course was hard Blue Cheese with Prunes followed by a Caramel Pannacota for desert. Everything we ate was fabulous and so well done. Nothing else I ate in Paris measured up to this meal.
Service was warm and friendly. The staff were all pros. I highly recommend coming here! For me, it was a 7 star meal! -

Oh man. We loved everything about our experience at this gem of a restaurant. The menu is set each day and you're treated to several incredible courses. The tureen of soup poured over feta, bacon and some other vegetables; the tender beef roast, and even the dessert (my husband is not a fan of blue cheese but this one was divine and he even ate it).
My review doesn't do it justice but it was incredible.
As others have said, you have to email the owner in advance to secure reservations. -

This was honestly my favorite meal from my trip to Paris. The restaurant is not pretentious at all and had a great vibe to it. The service was amazing and I didn't once feel like I was out of place. When I went, there was a good mix of locals and tourists, but the employees here made us feel at home and did not treat us any differently.
Now onto the food, we got a lamb roast that was cooked perfectly. The meat fell off the bone. My mouth is watering just thinking about it now. The entire meal was just so well planned and so well done, I really do believe they'd make a killing if they expanded.
I HIGHLY recommend Les Papilles!
